Pore-deep Due Diligence – Isle scientist puts on the lab coat
Isle regularly undertakes validation of different new technologies and does not shy away from putting on the lab coats in the process if so required. As part of a recent due diligence assignment Isle Middle East undertook independent laboratory testing to determine certain characteristics of a new material as part of the validation process to explore the potential. This included Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) Surface Area Analysis to determine the surface area of the pores in the tested material as a key characteristic for the intended application.
The investigation was headed by Dr. Iain Meager, a Technology Consultant for Isle. His PhD was undertaken at the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London and focused on the design and synthesis of semiconducting polymers for organic photovoltaic applications. Prior to joining Isle Iain undertook postdoctoral research at The Clean Energy Institute at the University of Washington in Seattle. Iain’s research has resulted in over 15 publications, patents and conference proceedings.
