Ilana brings a decade of experience identifying innovative technology solutions to bring utility services to low-income communities. She led the Digital Utilities program at the GSMA Mobile for Development Foundation, where she operated a program to pilot frontier utility solutions in emerging markets, such as pre-paid smart water meters and pay-as-you-go solar. Her expertise is in analyzing problem-solution fit, facilitating partnerships between technology and utility providers, and communicating proof points to move an industry.

Prior to this, Ilana started her career as an environmental scientist in California with CDM Smith. She worked with public and private clients to achieve environmental compliance in large scale infrastructure projects. She holds an MSc. in Water Science, Policy and Management from Oxford University and a B.A. in Biology with a focus on environmental studies from Brandeis University.
