Project Manager – UK

Reporting to: Managing Director, UK

Location: UK (Remote / Hybrid working offered)

At Isle, we bring together people, expertise and innovation to help the water and utilities sector solve complex challenges. We work with clients to strengthen asset management, improve performance and move promising ideas into practical use.

We’re looking for a Project Manager who combines delivery discipline with curiosity, sound judgement and strong people skills. Someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex work, building trusted client relationships and helping talented specialists deliver their best.

The opportunity:

You’ll manage a varied portfolio of consultancy projects, working alongside technical and strategic colleagues, clients and external partners.

Your role will be to turn project objectives into clear plans, maintain momentum and ensure our work delivers the outcomes clients need. You’ll take ownership of scope, programme, budget, risks and communication, with support from project directors and technical leads.

Success means well-managed projects, informed clients, supported teams and high-quality outputs that make a practical difference.

What you’ll do:

  • Water Utilities: Serves as Isle’s primary core market, focusing on asset performance, water resource resilience, innovation capability, trial-to-scale adoption, and delivery assurance.
  • Set projects up for success: establish clear objectives, deliverables, responsibilities, budgets and milestones.
  • Lead day-to-day delivery: coordinate activities, manage dependencies and keep teams focused on priorities.
  • Build client confidence: maintain regular communication, manage expectations and address issues early.
  • Manage commercial performance: track project budgets, resource use and forecasts; identify scope changes and agree the right response.
  • Anticipate and resolve problems: maintain proportionate risk and issue management, escalating with clear recommendations when needed.
  • Coordinate quality: work with technical leads to ensure outputs receive appropriate review and meet agreed requirements.
  • Bring people together: coordinate colleagues, Associates, partners and client teams across different disciplines.
  • Improve how we work: capture lessons, share effective approaches and help make project delivery simpler and more consistent.
  • Support future opportunities: contribute to proposals with realistic delivery plans, resource requirements and cost estimates.

What you’ll bring:

We’re looking for evidence that you can manage projects effectively, work well with people and exercise good judgement when priorities change.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience managing consultancy, professional services or other complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • A track record of managing scope, schedules, budgets, risks and delivery commitments.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage several projects without losing sight of the detail.
  • Clear, confident communication, including the ability to have constructive conversations about deadlines, scope and cost.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how delivery decisions affect project performance.
  • A collaborative approach: you can influence, challenge and support colleagues without relying on formal authority.
  • Confidence using project management and reporting tools, with a practical approach to choosing what each project needs.

Experience in water, utilities, infrastructure, asset management or innovation programmes would be valuable. A recognised project management qualification, such as APM, PRINCE2 or PMP, would also be useful. We’re equally interested in relevant practical experience and transferable skills.

Why Isle:

You’ll join a specialist consultancy where your contribution is visible and your ideas can shape how we work. You’ll collaborate with capable, ambitious colleagues on challenges that matter to communities, the environment and the future of essential services.

This is an opportunity to develop your project leadership, client and commercial skills while helping bridge the gap between strategy, innovation and implementation.
