About the event
The water sector faces some key challenges such as rapidly rising customer demand due to population growth and urbanization and increasing energy costs. To thrive in this uncertain environment requires new thinking and contesting some of the conventional practices. There has been a global push by the water sector to embrace innovation and move towards utilising new ‘smart’ technology to optimise processes in the whole cycle of water and waste water treatment provision. This shift to ‘smart’ technology has advanced at a rapid pace as the sector seeks to capitalise on the potential benefit of new solutions and allow them to operate more effectively.
The impact and wide ranging benefits of smart technology will be explored in detail over the 3 day ‘Smart Water’ programme Isle Utilities has put together for the IWS 2018. The program will focus on 3 areas with each day having a new theme, these are Municipal, Industrial and Real Estate & Public Use. To gain deeper insights we have several industry experts such as Nalco Water, PureTerra Ventures, Masdar Institute and Aldar to join us to discuss and debate how this trend is shaping our sector and how the audience can capitalise on it.
Next to that Innovate@IWS brings the 12 most ‘smart technologies’ to the stage. The finalists will pitch to a distinguished panel of judges from across the MENA region, in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ styled competition, to determine the most promising technologies.
We are very proud to announce the finalists of 2018:
- Royal Haskoning DHV
- Systea s.p.A.
- AMCON Europe s.r.o.
- Flovac B.V.
- Aquastill B.V.

The above program takes place during International Water Summit, from 15-18 January 2018 and is sponsored by PureTerra Ventures (www.pureterra.com).
